My live performance set incorporates algorithmic elements with field recordings, improvisation and experimental electronic music. Using a combination of software and hardware elements I manipulate and tweak things into new sonic territory.
These compositions incorporated field recordings and e-bow electric guitar along with and algorithmically triggered synths and beats. For this set I revisited a practice spanning back to childhood of recording my surroundings, from conversations to nature walks to machinery. I recombined these to create various sonic abstractions, approaching this performance as a form of subconscious and improvised storytelling. Some of the ideas were arranged ahead of time and some emerged organically during the performance.
Things I’m using include MAX/MSP, Ableton, e-bow electric guitar and pedals, the AKAI LPD 8 and the Novation Launch Control XL MIDI controller.
